La presente edizione è curata da Achille Malavasi e Giuseppe
Fumagalli. Essi hanno procurato di attenersi fedelmente all'edizione
originale di Torino curata dallo stesso autore, pure tenendo a riscontro
il manoscritto originale cortesemente messo a disposizione dal figlio
dell'autore signor Ugo Oriani. Attenersi strettamente al testo di
questo, apparve sin dall'inizio impresa impossibile. La stampa torinese
presentava, nei confronti del manoscritto, numerose e radicali varianti,
le quali, rappresentando il pensiero dell'autore nella sua forma
definitiva, dovevano essere accolte nella presente lezione. Al
manoscritto si ebbe tuttavia frequentemente ricorso; e precisamente ogni
qualvolta la stessa lezione dell'autore presentava difficoltà di
interpretazione. Errori di nomi e di date, sfuggiti alla revisione e
all'attenzione di lui, si ebbe cura altresì di rettificare.
